The Challenge
DBS approached Jackfruit Adventure with a clear goal for their upcoming team building event in Ho Chi Minh City. They wanted an experience where all 41 staff members could roll up their sleeves and cook side by side. Instead of games or side activities, the focus was entirely on teamwork in the kitchen, giving everyone an active role from start to finish.
How We Helped
To bring DBS’s idea to life, Jackfruit Adventure designed a team building day centered on the Heart & Hands: Cook & Share program. We began by researching DBS’s values and exploring how cooking could become more than just an activity, but a meaningful experience for everyone involved.
The event was set at a community kitchen near Dieu Giac orphanage, providing the perfect environment for collaboration. Our facilitators guided the team through each step, from selecting local ingredients to preparing, cooking, and packaging nutritious meals. Every staff member rotated through different stations, so everyone contributed and learned new skills together.
Throughout the day, the kitchen was filled with energy and laughter as colleagues worked side by side, encouraged one another, and found new ways to connect outside the office. Once the meals were ready, the DBS team personally delivered them to Dieu Giac orphanage, meeting the children and staff and witnessing firsthand the impact of their teamwork.
The Results
By the end of the experience, DBS had successfully donated around 70 beautifully packed meals, valued at over 300 US dollars, to Dieu Giac Orphanage. More importantly, the team walked away with a renewed sense of connection, not just with one another but with the community they served.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many participants shared that it was the most fulfilling team building event they had ever experienced. The combination of shared tasks, cultural immersion, and community impact created a unique atmosphere of sincerity and collaboration.
