The Challenge

In 2024, Netcompany approached Jackfruit Adventure with a simple, yet exciting request: an unforgettable team building experience in a totally unexpected location. They weren’t looking for the usual corporate retreat, they wanted something genuinely adventurous, a real getaway that would challenge their team and strengthen team bonds through a series of brilliant challenges.

How We Helped

With our proposal of ‘Castaway Island: Team Unity & Survival Adventure’, we got the immediate approval from the Netcompany team as the chosen location is the peaceful and green Thanh Da Island, a leafy little oasis nestled right in the suburban area of Saigon city.

Brief time before the journey starts!

Our event day kicked off bright and early. We got Netcompany teams away from their hotel and transported them directly to the island. As they settled into our event location, which is a beautiful spot surrounded by nature, our dynamic host briefed the group about the journey before assembling everyone into 3 teams. Their mission? To escape this exile island!

Teams take up a challenge of walking on the wooden plank

Once the teams were set, with a map and a mysterious clue in hand, the teams had to navigate the winding roads, through narrow alleys and bridges to reach the next checkpoint. At this point, teams would perform a Vietnamese folk game: walking on the wooden plank together to get through the muddy path and collect as many survival tools as possible.

A little tea retreat for your hardwork!

As the rush phase ended, teams were tasked to decode all the subtle hints and metaphors on their minimap to reach the secret venue. What welcomed them there was a serene riverfront setting, complete with cakes and a lovely tea set. What a chance to recharge the batteries before the following hardcore part.

Break time over! It was back to the intense, friendly competition with the Morse Code Communication challenge. The teams had to split into two smaller groups, separating themselves to a distance where their voices couldn’t possibly reach. It was a true test of non-verbal communication. Using only lights and simple signaling, they needed to find a way to tell their partners what specific equipment they needed to gather for the ultimate final challenge.

Building a bridge from Vietnamese materials

Finally, the moment of truth arrived. All three teams had successfully gathered their tools, equipment, and materials. The grand finale was simple: build a bridge to get off the island once and for all! Under the pressure of time, 3 teams must craft a bamboo bridge and make sure it’s tough enough to handle a rolling ball. Besides duration, the champion would be decided by more than just speed but design and team coordination were also the winning ingredients. As the timer started, every team member was brainstorming, sketching, and testing models. They worked really best to “cook” up the greatest escape bridge ever built before reaching the warm ceremony where the winner was revealed.

The Results

Despite the ‘blood, sweat and tears’ experience, Netcompany’s team building in Ho Chi Minh was such a huge success. They laughed, they tried, and they fought together, not just against others but also the challenges we set. The whole event was a burst of energy and teamwork, all wrapped up in a thrilling adventure.

Though the team burnt most of their calories that day, Netcompany members still found great time during those hours. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive: they loved how interesting the challenges were, how thrilling the paths felt, and most importantly, how much fun they had working side by side.
