According to the legend, the K’ho people once had a tradition where the bride’s family had to prepare 5 buffaloes, 20 dresses, and 5 chickens to “catch a husband.” Deeply in love, the girl decided to prepare the gifts, despite the groom’s family’s objections, in order to marry the man she loved. However, even with all the gifts, the groom’s father refused and set a condition: the girl must find a rooster with nine claws, just like in the legend of Son Tinh, Thuy Tinh.
After waiting in vain for the girl’s return, the boy decided to search for her. That was the last time anyone from the village saw him. Later, the villagers learned that the couple had died in the deep forest from hunger and cold. Moved by the love of the two, even the animals wept and died. Many years later, when the government decided to build a clean water reservoir for the relocated people, architect Lu Truc Phuong designed the giant nine-clawed rooster standing over the reservoir, crowing. Since then, the village has become an attractive destination for tourists seeking to experience rural life and witness the legendary “nine-clawed rooster” of the ill-fated couple.
